Montgomery Climbing Community

As an avid rock climber, it was heartbreaking moving from California to Montgomery, Alabama—a flat expanse with no climbing gym, two and a half hours from the nearest climbing crag.

Nonetheless, I worked with what I had. I turned my garage into climbing gym and began monitoring online climbing communities for other climbers in the area. Slowly, we built a small community that undertook regular climbing and camping trips. As of early 2026 we haven’t been active in a while due to busy schedules and members moving away, but I did meet my wife through the group!
